Shep-A-Day Podcast

I have worked up some simple bash scripts to generate a sort of This Day In History podcast…for now this one is dedicated to the fathead of all fatheads Jean Shepherd. What was he saying on this date in history? Now you can find out easily by subscribing to this podcast. In the future I am going to work up a This Day In History podcast that includes all manner of radio shows, everything from classic science fiction to the Burns and Allen shows to whatever else I can scrape up from the feeds. All the actual content is hosted up on Thanks to the folks at the Brass Figlagee podcast for getting all these shows up on Excelsior

I really like the Shep-a-Day thing. It saves me the trouble of having to pick out a title at random.

Thanks for doing this, by the way.

My pleasure. It is something I had wanted to do for years now, back even before my original shep podcast. The work the fella from the Brass Figlagee podcast did in getting the files up on was the key to making it smooth....much thanks goes to him.

This is a national treasure for making these great shows by Shep so available. I included your site in a round-up of some of the best online resources to hear Jean Shepherd, geared to both longtime fans, today's story-telling performers and potential new fans.
Thanks, Art

What a fine fine thing to do...I lie in bed and 50 years disappear. And this list is a one click on my my newfangeled iPhone. Thanks man from an old codger who spent countless hours under the covers with a transistor radio being programmed by ol Shep to become the garrulous fool I am proud to call myself today.

Much thanks
